Mario Pagano is an Adjunct Professor of Plant Ethology at the University of Florence (since February 2026) and a Researcher (since December 2022) at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR-IRET). He is a Corresponding Member of the Italian Academy of Forest Sciences (since June 2021), based in Florence, Italy. He holds a Ph.D. in Agrobiotechnology for Tropical Production from the University of Florence (awarded March 2012). 
His research focuses on plant science, with particular expertise in plant physiology, terahertz (THz) imaging applied to plants, and plant bioacoustics. He has authored numerous scientific publications at both national and international levels and is the holder of a patent for an innovative technology that enables non-invasive measurement of plant physiological parameters.
